Damage decides whether an egg cracks before you lose the walk home. Five methods are documented: the DamageAuto pad, target and pad upgrades, the cash gun ladder, Rebirth, and optional Robux products. They are not the same layer.
Two layers
The Damage stat is the number you grow by training. Rebirth and target or pad upgrades are described as multiplying that progress. The gun in your hands is what hits the egg right now. No source says that buying a gun increases the trained Damage stat. Treat a new gun as a shot upgrade, and the pad as the stat upgrade.
Egg HP climbs fast. Sightings include 20,000 (Magic), 80,000 (Space), about 300,000 remaining (Devil), 22,000,000 (Mystery), 1,800,000,000 (Strawberry), 9,000,000,000, and a counter at 989,962,853,210,061. Early eggs that died in one or two shots later take many reloads unless damage keeps up.
DamageAuto pad
The official line is: train on your DamageAuto pad to grow your damage. No extra unlock beyond reaching the pad is documented. Both recorded sessions use the pad in the gaps while eggs hatch. One player's power climbed toward 3,000, with a plan to push it to 4,000. The training rate is not published. It is also not settled whether the pad trains by standing on it or whether you must shoot the target. One player fired at the target immediately after buying it.
Target upgrades
The official line is: upgrade your target and unlock bigger pads. A shop prompt named Unlock Target / Get Your Target was bought specifically so fire power would increase, and the player then shot the target. How much each level speeds training is not documented. Bigger pads mean more training, not a published percent.
The store snapshot also lists Target Level 2 for R$16. That is a paid shortcut, not a tested multiplier.
The gun you are holding
Better guns cut shots per egg immediately. Mid-game guns one-shot weak eggs and still grind through the 80,000 to 300,000 HP range. After the $5,000,000 RPG, one player one-shot every egg they met, including a Transcendent Egg. Prices, the free Small Uzi, and the Rebirth gate are on the gun ladder. Per-gun damage numbers are not in the game's listings.
Rebirth
The official line is: Rebirth to multiply everything and reach the locked guns. The size of the multiplier is not stated. In the recorded session it also opened the shelf past the cash guns. See Rebirth and locked guns.

What to do in the moment
- Just spawned: claim the free Small Uzi if the shop still offers it, buy the target when the prompt appears, and train between egg runs.
- Eggs are hatching: stand on the pad or shoot the target. That is the dead time both sessions used.
- You are holding cash: buy the next gun. It is the upgrade that changes shots per egg before the next carry.
- The shop locks the remaining guns: Rebirth, then buy them with cash.
- You want to pay for pad speed: the training-damage products exist as listings. They are optional.
